Description

Modern and traditional - The JACKALOPE Amber Longbow.

Do you love modern bows in a traditional design? Then perhaps the JACKALOPE Amber longbow is exactly what you are looking for! A longbow which in its form and the most important characteristics are in no way inferior to the classic longbows, but in its design brings modern design to the oldest of all types of bows. The handle, for example, is made of naturally grown Amazoque wood, dark American black walnut and ultra-modern Mycarta, giving it its unmistakable character. The African Amazoque, with its distinct and very decorative grain, gives the handle a natural, warm appearance. In contrast, the dark wood of the American black walnut and the highly stable Mycarta, bring stability as an intermediate layer and minimises hand shocks.
The limb is made of spiderwood and clear glass, whose light wood tones are a beautiful addition to the riser. They are optimally shaped and make the arc more forgiving. The materials processed in the finest European craftsmanship ensure optimum speeds, very good draw performance and buttery smooth. And important: The JACKALOPE longbows are IFAA compliant and therefore suitable for competitions!

Its eponym, the amber, is one of the oldest gemstones and healing stones in the world. It is an energetic protective stone that strengthens confidence and vitality. Its warm fire leads back to your own centre and supports you in energy-sapping situations. The perfect namesake for a perfect traditional bow.

SPEED - Carbon for even more speed

Of course, its traditional optics is simple and beautiful at the same time, but the Amber by JACKALOPE Archery convinces above all with one thing: its speed. The Amber by JACKALOPE Archery has the bow geometry optimized on the drawing board for higher speed. The main focus in the design of this bow was thus on its increased performance and optimal speed. These requirements are maximized by the optionally available speed versions. An additional layer of carbon improves the already good-natured characteristics of the bow. It makes the bow more forgiving and provides narrower and more accurate shooting targets. But how does it do that? Quite simple: By the carbon inlay, the limbs are not only lighter and more  distorsion-resistant but also approx. 10fps faster.

Right or left-hand?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-hand bow is held in the left hand and pulled out with the right hand.

The determination of the personal draw hand has far less to do with whether one is left or right-hand than one might initially assume. Rather, it is a matter of determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for targeting. This automatically results in the draw hand.

The term "dominant eye" refers to the eye the visual information of which superimposes everything. If a shooter would try to aim with the other eye, he would have to pinch the dominant eye.

There are two ways to determine the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally preferred, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the spyhole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise with which the dominant eye can be determined beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and with thumb and index fingers of both hands, a triangle is formed.
  • The triangle is used to target a small target, such as a power socket or a cabinet knob. This object is focused.
  • The hands are now slowly moved towards the face without the target being taken out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will automatically incline to one half of the face and the dominant eye will lie within it.

If eye and hand dominance do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can easily be trained on the new draw hand, the eye cannot.
